I could not recommend the team from Burmah Construction more highly and as a repeat renovator, I would not use any other building team. From the outset I found Chris (owner…leader of the crew) to be integral, honest, well organised, communicative and available.

My renovation job was not easy as my home was built in 1901 and we uncovered lots of challenges along the way. The team were flexible, able to work with me to solve “problems” and positively focused on achieving a fabulous outcome at all times. With an eye for detail, the average building team may have found me fussy, demanding or wanting of things that weren’t a possibility.

As bespoke builders, the Burmah Construction team patiently worked with me to create an incredible renovation.

We worked with Chris and his team at Burmah Constructions on a tricky two-level apartment rebuild in Bellevue Hill. This project was a challenge from the start as the property had exquisite but dilapidated ornate ceilings which needed to be maintained however the property itself was virtually gutted.

Being an old property, it presented us with a number of interesting challenges which were met and dealt with swiftly and competently by Chris and his team. The true measure of a professional is their response to a problem and when a rather expensive and significant issue arose during construction (that was not Burmah’s fault) Chris’ response was of the utmost professionalism. His site foreman Matt was an absolute delight to work with – always cheerful, polite and accommodating.

Plans were followed and questions always asked when there was any doubt which are qualities that as interior designers we need from a builder for a harmonious work site. With a spectacular finished outcome, the end result was a very happy client. Quality and professionalism are the cornerstones of Burmah Constructions and we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them. We look forward to working with them again in the near future.

Chris at Burmah leads a very professional outfit that achieved for us a quality family home that has vastly exceeded our expectations. Foreman Dan was also exemplary in attending to the different stakeholders on site including council, surveyors, certifiers, neighbours and of course their selected trades.

The project was challenging in that the front of the site is a 150 year old heritage listed timber weatherboard cottage with very limited side access. Burmah were very organised in handling the demolition of the former rear addition and also completing the excavation of a new pool and cellar. Dan did a great job organising formwork, concrete pours and structural bricks/steel but the Burmah carpentry talent came to the fore in the last half of the project. The team built a fantastic American Oak routed timber ceiling in the upstairs new addition which is a clear feature of the house. The team also restored the heritage cottage to its former glory and the attention to detail and restoration of period features is second to none.

I actually enjoyed the build process much more than the planning process which I don’t think many people can say. If you want a builder that is organised, diligent and will give you a cracking product pick Burmah.

We were extremely happy with the Construction Services provided by Chris and the team at Burmah Constructions. Our build intent was to integrate the existing cottage with the new extension and Chris and his team did a great job with the challenges of having a family of 5 (and a very active dog) living on site, running a business from home and being able to work around us. Matt, the site supervisor was a pleasure to work with and Burmah Constructions delivered our gorgeous beachside property on time and a place we love to call home!

The Renovation of the Louisa Rd Residence presented many difficult challenges for a highly skilled and experienced builder. This included excavating under a 4 storey masonry house on a confined site, construction of a 4m high suspended deck over a rock face that in part spanned over the harbour below, building a stair down a cliff face to precisely fit around varying rock formations, and renovating a harbour side pool that suffered from concrete cancer. Burmah was pro-active in finding rational and cost effective solutions that satisfied the high expectations of the owner and our detailed architectural requirements. Chris and his team consistently considered the best way to procure the job from heavy structural requirements to fine interior detailing to ensure the highest quality result was achieved. Importantly, working with Burmah for the second time was once again a pleasure, and we look forward to working with them on the next project.

After many years in Hong Kong, we decided to return to our Northbridge home in 2015. Prior to our return, we had architectural plans drawn and contacted Burmah Constructions about doing the renovations on our house. We had known Chris for many years and he had built a reputation as a trustworthy and professional builder. Fortunately for us, we had Nick Rados as our foreman with Chris overseeing all stages of the build. Their professional and personable nature was appreciated by all members of our family and made the renovation experience a positive one. Burmah Constructions came recommended to us for our dental office fitout. It required completely gutting an old 3 storey terrace and setting up a dental practice complete with client and staff offices, dental rooms and an x-ray room. Throughout the 9 month project, we found Burmah Constructions and their contractors extremely professional and easy to deal with. Their work was of a very high standard and all issues were dealt with quickly and successfully. We are extremely pleased with the finished result and have had great feedback from our customers.

Chris and his team from Burmah impressed us from the initial tendering stage of our project right thru to the completion of our new house. Burmah was recommended to us by a close friend and we are extremely glad we chose Burmah to build our new house. From the onset there were some extremely difficult obstacles and problems to overcome but they were all managed in a very professional and efficient manner. The potential dramas of dealing with consultants, contractors and also neighbours, were identified early and managed well which resulted in a stable and comfortable working environment for all.

We were greatly impressed with the attention to detail shown by the foreman Daniel during the structural phase and especially during the finishes stages. As a result the final outcome was absolutely outstanding, the budget was maintained to our original target and the project was finished ontime. We had an extremely pleasant experience building our new home with Chris and his team and we would highly recommend him to anyone contemplating a project like this.

Burmah undertook a difficult project for us, renovating a heritage cottage and building a large modern extension. All the team were a pleasure to deal with, and the site manager effectively identified potential issues from the plans well before decisions had to be made. When unforseen issues did arise, they proposed sensible solutions to overcome them. Relationships with the neighbours were well managed, with several people going out of their way to praise the team. The building was finished almost on schedule, with minimal variations, and to an extremely high standard throughout. I highly recommend Burmah Constructions and they’ll be the first people I call if we ever undertake another project.

We were absolutely delighted with the work that Chris and his team from Burmah Constructions did for us on our major home renovation. The work of the highest standard; the team worked quickly and efficiently, keeping us appraised of progress at all times and seamlessly managing all of the the subcontracts, while maintaining a very close attention to detail.

There we no surprises and any issues that (inevitably) arose were dealt with quickly. Dan Knight, the foreman was an incredibly hard and diligent worker who was always at pains to ensure that the building works were of least inconvenience to our family as is possible, which is not easy to do when we lived onsite throughout the project.

Burmah Constructions were the contractors on a residential project in Newtown by Jane Johnson Architects. They came highly recommended to me by an architect who had worked with them several times, and ever since I have highly recommended them to other colleagues and potential clients. They are a very conscientious team, who are clearly well respected by their sub-contractors. I cannot speak highly enough about the foreman on the project, Daniel Knight, who gave 110% of himself on a project which required a lot of attention to detail.

Burmah’s owner, Chris Griffin, has what it takes to run a successful construction company – he cares about his projects, he cares about his staff and he cares about his clients. Moreover, he is always calm and reasonable when inevitable issues arise on site, which makes him a pleasure to deal with.

We underwent a major renovation of a late 1800s terrace house. It was a major personal and financial investment. After hearing so many building horror stories we weren’t expecting it to go smoothly. In the end the quality of the work was excellent and the experience was a good one. Communication from Burmah, both Chris and Matt, was excellent, as was their pride in the result. We understood where we were at in the process which helped us to budget as the build progressed. We were able to meet on site when required to iron out any issues with the build or suppliers. Based on our experience we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Burmah.
